Wind Breaker (ウインドブレイカー, Uindo Bureikā?), stylized as WIND BREAKER, is a Japanese action-adventure manga series written and illustrated by Satoru Nii. It first released on Magazine Pocket on January 13, 2021 and was later licensed by Kodansha Comics for a digital English release on April 26, 2022.[2] On November 23, 2022, Kodansha USA slated Wind Breaker for a print release in fall 2023, as first announced at Anime NYC 2022 and later on its website.[3]
On March 30, 2023, an anime adaptation to be produced by CloverWorks was announced via the series' official Twitter account.[4] In October 2023, it was announced through a teaser Promotional Video that the adaptation will premiere in April 2024.[5]
Synopsis
Haruka Sakura wants nothing to do with weaklings—he's only interested in the strongest of the strong. He’s just started at Furin High School, a school of degenerates known only for their brawling strength—strength they use to protect their town from anyone who wishes it ill. But Haruka’s not interested in being a hero or being part of any sort of team—he just wants to fight his way to the top![2]

As of June 2024, the series has been collated into 17 tankōbon volumes in Japanese and 15 volumes in English. It has a total of 145 chapters on Magazine Pocket.
Reception
Wind Breaker was one of the 60 nominees for the 2021 Next Manga Awards' web manga category[6] and it ranked 20th with 15065 points overall.[7] In AnimeJapan 2022's fifth public poll for "Most Wanted Anime Adaptation," the series ranked fifth.[8] Per Oricon News, the series has surpassed 1.22 million copies as of March 2022.[9]
