Minoru Kanuma is a member of Shishitoren.
Appearance
Kanuma is an average heighted teenager with black hair tied back with traces of shaved hair at the sides of his head. Kanuma carries a bitter and exasperated expression, often when irritated. He dons the Shishitoren Jumper on top of a black hoodie.
Personality
Kanuma is an arrogant, smug and violent teenager, reflecting the infamous stereotype of Shishitoren. A notable bully, he has no qualms about chasing a middle schooler on their turf as sport all the while ridiculing his teammate who got beaten.
Kanuma is seen to be very easily irritated, growing angry whenever insulted or ridiculed. He also seems to be a nervous wreck, as he shows visible levels of exasperation when things do not go his way.
Kanuma looks up to and is very defensive of Arima, who is his dear friend. Otherwise he has a notable lack of empathy for anybody else, which Suo rubbed on his face as the reason he lacked true strength.
Story
Arima was friends with Kanuma since their younger years with the two fighting and defending each other, which made them rise within Shishitoren.
When Sasaki was chasing a thief inadvertently ending on Shishitoren's turf, the middle schooler was chased by him, Arima and Saruwatari on the latter's suggestion. As Sasaki attempted to return into Bofurin territory he was spotted by Hiragi's entourge who was patrolling. Before Sasaki was captured, Sakura and Sugishita, but jumped and kicked Saruwatari. Kanuma and Arima berated Saruwatari, with Togame coming soon after. As the situation rapidly escalated, Shishitoren retreated promising reprisal.
Kanuma was present on their declaration of war towards Bofurin as they traded insults. Kanuma offers to take on Suo after the latter insulted him for his pettiness.
On the day of the match in Shishitoren's "cage", Kanuma watches Arima's defeat at the hands of Sugishita and becomes extremely irritated at the turn of the events knowing Arima will likely be expelled for losing. Kanuma attempts to avenge Arima next during his fight against Suo. Kanuma is however, easily toyed with by Suo and his martial arts prowess, while constantly belittling him on his immaturity. Kanuma grows angrier and continues attacking Suo, to no avail as the rest of Shishitoren bemoans him for his poor performance, making Kanuma even angrier and more desperate. As Suo asks Kanuma what he needs in order to grow up, Kanuma is confused as everything he tries to attack doesn't work, becoming more anxious as Togame and Tomiyama lose interest in his fight. Ultimately Suo rubs Kanuma's lack of empathy on his face, showing concern for Arima, but otherwise uncaring for the rest of is teammates, telling him he cannot grow without it. Togame interjects ending the match in Suo's victory as Kanuma is left despodent.
Kanuma retreats towards Arima who wakes up realizing Kanuma lost as the latter is left biting his nails claiming it is over for both of them. Later in the middle of Sakura and Togame's match, Sakura's words make Togame realize the events that occurred involving Sasaki and demands explanations from Arima and Kanuma. When they confirmed his suspicions on chasing Sasaki for fun, Togame proceeds to severely beat both of them and take their jumpers away for their dishonor.
