Kyotaro Sugishita (杉下京太郎, Sugishita Kyōtarō^?) is a first-year student at Furin High School, and a member of Bofurin.

Sugishita is a tall teenager with long blue hair and brown eyes. He is most often seen wearing the Furin High School uniform with a plain white t-shirt under his jacket, black pants, and black and white sneakers.

Personality

At a glance, Sugishita is sluggish and apathetic. He seldom shows interest on other people, an exception being when he perceives any kind of disrespect towards Hajime Umemiya, a display of his devotion and great admiration to him. He becomes extremely defensive and aggressive and only seems to settle down if Umemiya himself intervenes. For this reason, he is called a "fanatic." Although not the brightest nor most talkative, Sugishita is kind at heart. He is bad at accepting his own feelings towards others and at general interactions.

Etymology

• The name Sugishita means "Cedar (Cryptomeria japonica) (杉) (sugi) and "below, descend, give, low, inferior" (下) (shita).
• Sugishita's given name Kyotaro means "capital" (京 ) (kyō), "plump, thick, big around" (太) (ta), and "son" (郎) (rō).
