Detailed Outline
Back at Furin High
- As Sakura was taking a morning stroll and mentally recalling the advice that Umemiya provided him about how to earn allies, the former became startled as he was caught off-guard by both Nirei and Suo greeting him right in front of his face. As the trio was walking across the same floor as their classroom, Nirei nervously noticed that their fellow schoolmates in the hallway were silently eyeing them. As soon as Sakura opened the classroom door, most of their fellow classmates swarmed the three and began asking them for detail about their recent confrontation with Shishitoren. As the responsibility for the response was passed down to Nirei (who the others viewed with skepticism), Tsugeura approached the others and asked to be clued in as well.
- As Nirei briefly introduced Tsugeura to Sakura, Tsugeura asked both Suo and Sakura about the virtues that they live by. Suo declined to answer (once again) while Sakura was confused by the question. As Nirei explains his personal opinion on why Tsugeura would ask such a question, the latter was impressed by Nirei's detailed approach to life (as kept in the former's journal). As Tsugeura was inviting the whole class (including Sugishita, who was caught strolling past the classroom entrance) to discuss virtue at his personally-selected location for lunch, the entire class (except Sakura, Nirei, & Suo) immediately declined by turning their attentions elsewhere. Undeterred, Tsugeura decided to just invite the trio instead. While Sakura and Suo also declined the offer, Nirei accepted as Kiryu looked up from the other side of the classroom.[1][2]
Incident during lunch
- The following day, Nirei dragged both Sakura and Suo to Tsugeura's favorite restaurant where the latter was already waiting at. As Tsugeura was recommending a dish, he also turned his attention to Sakura and challenged him to a fight in order to determine what the latter's virtue truly is. Remembering Umemiya's words about fights being a form of communication too, Sakura was eager to get started until Kiryu came in with a girl.[1][2]
- Kiryu briefly acknowledged the group as he have both the girl and himself sit further in the back at another table. Nirei excitingly acknowledged that four of the five strongest fighters in their class are now all gathered in the same place. Per Sakura's request, Nirei went over Kiryu's history as a fighter but getting the former flustered when digging into possible relationship history. When Suo briefly mentioned the issue leading to Sakura currently feeling the way he is now, Tsuguera agreed to serve as an "ice-breaker" and, despite Nirei's warning not to push the issue, approached the other table with an over-eager demeanor. Kiryu reacted by slowly getting up and warned Tsuguera to mind how the latter presents himself in front of others. Tsuguera apologized as Kiryu lead the girl out of the restaurant.[3][2]
- When Tsuguera came back to the table and admitted to the others how he felt about the issue, both Nirei and Suo took note about the former's more sensitive soft side. A loud commotion then ensued outside as a bunch of guys blocked both Kiryu and the girl, with one of them threatening retribution. As the other members of Bofurin came outside to find out what's going on, they heard that Kiryu was rescuing the girl from an earlier incident. Tsuguera turned Kiryu around and was praising the latter's chivalrous behavior despite the present situation. As Kiryu was frantically telling Tsuguera to pay attention to what's going on at the moment, one of the guys from the other group jumped at them but was pushed back by Sakura who criticize the group's tactic for ganging up on one person.[3][2]
- While Nirei asked that Sakura not to fan the flames any further, both Tsuguera and Kiryu praised the latter's choice of words. Suo asked the girl to stand back, as both they and Nirei watched the other three getting ready to take on the other group.[3][2]
- Regarding the fight[4][2]:
- Tsuguera's virtue is personally revealed as one that allows his opponent to express their true color before he expresses his own, which was demonstrating when he allowed the first punch to be made directly at him without any initial resistance. He then finished off the opponent with a German suplex move.
- Kiryu's style of fighting allows him to easily knock opponents away with as little effort or force applied as possible. Kiryu admitted that he was having Sakura take down the opponents that the former was sending in that direction, despite the latter's annoyance. Tsuguera requested the same should be applied to him as well.
- Suo assured Kiryu that everything is fine in the back of the fight and not to be overtly concerned. When a member of the other group rushed towards Suo, the latter easily deflected the attacker from getting any further. This impressed Kiryu and lead to Sakura understanding what Suo was implying just recently.
- Sakura then requested Kiryu send the opponents his way as a way to better himself, while Tsuguera continued to request the same for himself. The fight eventually draw to a quick close as every member were knocked out.
- Tsuguera then wrapped things up by volunteerting to recite the Bofurin motto after Nirei told the former that Sakura may not currently have the motto memorized yet. Sakura then remembered the motto being recited by Hiragi during the former's first day (and second fight at the same time) in town[5][6] Kiryu then picked up one of the guy's collars and calmly issued a warning to him. As the other men retreated, the girl profusely thank the Bofurin students as she waved them good-bye.[4][2]
- As Kiryu was praising Sakura's fighting prowess, Tsuguera reminded that Sakura's goal was to make it to the top of the school's hierarchy. Kiryu then mentioned the upcoming election for the class' grade captain, which confused Sakura who has no idea what that title even is. Kiryu then asked for Sakura's contact info and was allowed by the latter to enter it down on the phone himself. Kiryu then noticed that Sakura's phone does not have much apps and has only 'weather' listed as a contact. In the background, the other three snickered much to Sakura's embarrassment. The day ended with all four of Sakura's classmates inputting their contact info onto his phone.[4][2]
Election and Responsibilities of a Grade Captain
- The following day, Sakura was eating at Café Pothos while also staring at his updated group contact list. He was then startled by Kotoha asking him the reason for his prolonged starting. As Kotoha went to pick up the phone, she noticed the contact list and decided to add herself there as well. After taking back his phone, Sakura noticed a live group messaging session which involved a number of peculiar images. When the topic of grade captain resurfaced, Sakura tried responding, only to be overwhelmed by the sheer volume of texts going back and forth. Frustrated and confused, Sakura quickly finished his meal and dashed towards the school.[7][2]
- While the same group from yesterday greeted him, Sakura quickly yelled out his question about the definition of a grade captain. Suo attempted to calm Sakura by explaining the reason for the morning's group text, while also stating that the ones who would answer Sakura's question has just arrived at their classroom. At that moment, the grade captain group for their second year team have arrived (i.e., Kaji, Enomoto, & Kasumi) with Enomoto explaining the process of electing the first year's grade captain, as well as that person's duties and responsibilities. Suo then raised his hand to volunteer Sakura for the role, despite the latter's shock and surprise.[7][2]
